Aerial Cloud Test

This was a test using a single image as the main source for the effect. This effect was not generated using a particle system.

Earth Zoom Simulation

This was an effect creating a geographic zoom effect simulation from high resolution graphics.

Inner City Blast Effect

This was a project combining multiple effects to get the feeling of a nebulous effect in the city. There is the inner funnel with sprites, the orb blast, the ground plane effect with sprites and the custom particle to simulate paper flying around.

Muzzle Flash Test

These are some muzzle flash test I did last night. The first test shows a custom muzzle flash and tracers. No animation on the gun or light effects. The camera shake was scripted to give the gun more weight. The 2nd test adds rotation to the muzzle flash.

Snow Particle Test

This is a snow particle test done with Particular. The first particle system is generating 30,000 particles in the first field and for the second I added another particle system generating 1,000 more particles in the 2nd field for the particles closest to the camera to help with the illusion of depth.

Bats Particle Test

This was a test creating a custom animated particle in Particular.

Ground Reflection Test

This was a test done in AFX in order to get the reflections, specularity and lighting correct.

Cloud Test

This is a test I did to for some clouds. The particles were generated with Particular and the background image is a HDR map.

Here are some smoke test I did last night using some HDR and EXR images. The particle system was done with Particular and the background is manipulated using Horizon.

LeveL Graphic Novel

A while back many of you heard that we wrote a theatrical script titled LeveL. As well many of you heard that we were working on a graphic novel teaser to give an illustrated glimpse into the script. Well, I am happy to say that the graphic novel teaser is finally complete.

The purpose of the teaser was to give the consumer a quick glimpse into the world of LeveL and to highlight some of the more exciting moments of the screenplay as a result to drive interest towards the full theatrical script.

So when you have a moment, give it a quick read and let me know your thoughts.

Lord of the Rings: Conquest was revealed today G4 tv's Xplay. Check out the video below. Oh, and just to fix the error being stated by most the Multiplayer campaign supports up to 16 players, not 8. Apparently there was some minor confusion during the showcasing of the game. Fast forward to 1:30 for info on the game.

Well...just about everyone I know has been asking what "Secret project" I've been working on at Pandemic and because of NDA's my lips were sealed. Well that has all come to an end. Pandemic revealed our project last Thursday to the world and it is an open world game under the LOTR license called Lord of the Rings: Conquest. You can read all the details about it here in the interview with our game director. Or just Google it to get an more in depth scope of things. I will be posting more as more is revealed.

Last night Pandemic Hosted our 10th Anniversary /Holiday Party at the Natural History Museum. This is by far the best holiday party I have ever been to. It was ridiculous to say the least. The theme was creatures of the night, nothing like a little taste of Halloween during the holiday season. To top it all of Crystal Method was there to spin vinyl into the wee hours of the night. My New JOB in Gaming, Finally!

Well, for the few of you that don't know, I will be starting my new job in the video game industry on Oct 1st. This has been a life long dream of mine and I am stoked for the opportunity. Having worked in web, film, and post production for that past six years, the knowledge and experience I garnered was priceless. I hope to take all that I have learned and make an impact on the gaming world. I have been trying to get into the gaming industry for years and thankfully my portfolio is finally at a point that the industry would consider me. The company I will be working for is Pandemic Studios. They have created games such as Mercenaries, Destroy all Humans & Starwars battlefront just to name a few. I know many of you will ask what title(s) I will be working on and sorry to say I can't disclose that info yet but once Pandemic does I will update my blog. Our 3 Story Loft

Well Elizabeth and I reserved our loft yesterday. It was our Anniversary present to our selves. It is a great unit. It is 1262 sp ft, it has 2 full bath rooms an L shaped kitchen, and 21 foot ceilings. The bedroom is on the top floor that has a large window that looks onto the atrium. HDRI Magazine - It's Official

It's official, my image Inner Sanctum V1 will be published in HDRI Magazine issue #16 which will appear on store shelves in September. It is mentioned under the Gallery section on the homepage here. I will update the blog later with a scan. You can check out the image to the left or check a higher res version in my portfolio.

Just a bit of back story, I was commissioned by an artist to do 3 of these for his studio. They are about 3 x 7 feet in dimension and each image took 2 days to fully render. The background was painted in Photoshop. Man, it was great to have time to do personal work back then. I miss those days.

I had my first major publication in this magazine issue #38. The guy who published this magazine also published the Metalheart books.

You can grab the first book here. And they also made a second book you can get here. Both are awesome books that really help explore your thinking. I would say grab them for sure.

This site was built to introduce the Toyota community to the new vehicle called the FJ. The site housed all of the off road capabilities and videos that showcase how rugged the vehicle is. This was done for Saatchi & Saatchi of LA.

SoCal Honda site
